BTEC Qualifications in partnership with Pearson South Africa

College Vocational Pathway - BTEC's

Business and Technology Education Council (BTEC) qualifications
In Partnership with Pearson South Africa

At EDU360, we believe every student deserves a pathway that celebrates their strengths and leads to meaningful success. Our BTEC qualifications, offered in partnership with Pearson South Africa, provide just that – a dynamic blend of academic rigour and practical, career-focused learning.

BTECs are internationally recognised, designed to equip students with real-world skills, and open doors to higher education and employment both locally and abroad.

Rooted in a student-centred, hands-on approach, BTECs allow students to learn by doing – developing not just subject knowledge but also the essential life skills of problem-solving, teamwork, communication, and resilience.

With a flexible, modular structure and personalised support from the EDU360 team, students are guided to progress confidently, whether they aim to study further, start a career, or explore entrepreneurship.

Understanding BTEC Levels and South African Equivalents

BTEC qualifications are offered at different levels to suit various stages of a student’s academic journey and personal goals. At Edu360 College we, offer BTEC Level 2 & 3 in I.T.

  • BTEC Level 2 (CTE)
Comparable to Grade 10 in South Africa. Focuses on applied knowledge, foundational industry skills, and hands-on learning. It bridges the gap between traditional academics and practical experience.
  • BTEC Level 3
Equivalent to Grades 11 and 12. Offers specialised subject depth, preparing students for university, professional training, or work placement. Many universities recognise BTEC Level 3 qualifications as part of their entrance requirements, particularly when combined with IGCSE English.

BTEC Level 3 and University Entrance Requirements

BTEC Level 3 provides students with strong academic and vocational grounding. However, university entrance – particularly in South Africa – requires additional qualifications such as Cambridge IGCSE English (First Language) to meet recognised language proficiency standards.

At EDU360, students are supported through integrated IGCSE English and foundational Maths instruction from Level 2 upward, ensuring they meet university requirements and gain confidence in academic writing and numeracy.

Qualification Structure and Duration

Each BTEC level includes a combination of mandatory and optional units, designed to balance core academic skills with areas of interest. EDU360 has carefully selected optional units to best suit our students’ needs and strengths, particularly in areas such as Information Technology, Digital Design, and Business Applications.

This flexible structure accommodates different learning paces and ensures that students develop both competence and confidence as they progress through the qualification.

Learning Approach and Guided Hours

BTECs follow a blended learning model, integrating classroom teaching, project-based learning, and real-world application.

Students learn through:

  • Interactive classes to build theoretical knowledge.
  • Practical assignments that simulate workplace tasks.
  • Independentprojects and research.
  • Exposure to professional environments and digital tools.

This approach fosters both academic and emotional growth, preparing students to thrive in university and beyond.

Assessment and Grading

Unlike traditional exam-based qualifications, BTEC assessments are continuous and skills-focused, allowing students to demonstrate mastery over time through:

  • Practical projects and real-world tasks.
  • Research assignments and case studies.
  • Portfolios and presentations that show evidence of learning.

Grades are awarded as Pass (P), Merit (M), or Distinction (D), based on clear learning objectives rather than comparison with peers. This ensures students are recognised for their individual progress, creativity, and applied understanding
